Anytime a case does not meet determining criteria and the MED-VALU nurse is unable to certify the case. MED-VALU is obligated by state and federal laws to offer the patient the right and the means to appeal that decision. The MED-VALU appeals process follows all criteria that govern a patient's rights to an appeal. Upon denial of certification the patient is notified, by written correspondence, of their legal right to appeal the denial of certification and (if state mandated) given the form that they must submit to start the appeal process. MED-VALU produces a number of various letters that comply with the standards of every regulatory agency that applies. All of the letters can be imported into the system and alter the to meet changing state regulations.
