GOALS & CONFIDENTIALITY Goals of the MED-VALU program To ensure that health care services are medically necessary To meet all professionally recognized standards for health care services To assist in the integration of resources to prevent duplication of services and promote cost efficient delivery of health care services To identify opportunities to improve efficiency in the delivery of care and services by developing appropriate new programs and services To measure performance in existing programs and services to identify and prioritize areas of improvement To Provide these services at the most competitive price in the managed care industry Confidentially All activities and deliberations which in any way involve review or evaluation of the care or services received by an insured are confidential and are subject to applicable sections of state and federal law affecting confidentiality. Documents and other information prepared as a function of these Utilization Management activities will be released only in accordance with State and federal law. No voluntary disclosure of peer review information is made except to persons authorized to receive such information in the conduct of Utilization Management or Quality assurance.
